to 'Sponsor a Child' or see children
in China... It appears that adoptions will stop in Vietnam on September 1, 2008 due to the inability of the United States and Vietnam to sign a new MOU to allow adoptions to continue. This will leave orphanages with children in them and a reduced amount of funding to be able to provide for them. Many of these children are older and special needs and will not able to be adopted. We have support agreements with the orphanages we work with in Vietnam that must be terminated if adoptions are halted. The funding simply will no longer be there with out adoption fees. This may mean a reduction in staff, reduced money available for food, fewer opportunities for the older children to attend school, and less medical care available. We have worked in Vietnam for over 18 years and have seen many changes. We have built two orphanages, added on to and remodeled two, provided educational sponsorships, buit an elderly care familiry, and provided funding to a rehabilitation center as well as provided the day to day funding for operating the orphanages. As a result orphanages have made steady improvement in the care of the children. We don't want to see that progress to stagnat or worse see it reversed. That is why we are asking for your help today. Your doantion will see that care for these children will continue. You donation will provide a better future for these children. As we are able, we hope to expand programs in Vietnam and use this as an opprtunity to do more than we have been able to and to help children we have not been able to help before. As new opprtunities open up we will keep you informed, but for now we need to take care of the children that are presently in need of our help.
