New Photos: October 2009Below are new photos of the sun deck play area for the children. They are all such bright and happy children which is testimony to the excellent care the nannies have given them at the Center. These children do not realize just how luck they are to have such caring people around them and such caring people here giving the financial support needed to continue the good work of the nannies at the Center.
New Photos: August 31, 2009We have added a slide show below of some recent photos of the work at the Center. You can see how much more bright and cheerful the Center is with the new wall paper and wood on the lower parts of the walls. The will prevent the paint peeling and give a more durable surface on the lower parts of the walls where the children can reach. We hope you enjoy seeing the photos. Also we have a letter from Hannah and the ladies at the Center below the photos expressing their appreciation to all of those who support the Center and the work they do there.
Dear Everyone,
With all your love and donations, we have a very beautiful and different house, here ZhangTian, Wang Tao, Lili,Jiejie,XiaoRong,Xiao Rui, Tingting, Zhang Yu and Liang Liang, and more new coming babies would like to thank you all, for such a nice home!
The changes in the house are all the roofs and walls are new, no peeling off, any dirty green dots, worries of white chips dancing off at anytime. The walls wears wall-paper, the wood covered the down parts in the playing room, and also with the wood rail for Tiantian and WangTao to hold on walking. They are soft and beautiful. We can see some little rabbits, kites, little houses, little flowers and little kids on the walls. Tian tian can show you where the rabbit “Tutu” is! And walking is fun and easy now! We have done the following jobs before we had such nice walls. 1. Shopping for the wall paper, glues 2. Peeling off the old walls and roofs 3. Open a small wall window on the north wall for stretching the web camera out 4. Putting the wood part on in the playing room 5. Putting on wood rails 6. Painting the wood wall 7. Glue the wall-paper one 8. Getting out all the garbage 9. Fix all the certain slides on The front terrace: We have the terrace wall repaired, did the water proof as it is the roof for the down house, concreted floor, as the first contractor did poor job, and we had to quit them and did it twice. Now, the woods have bought in, but have not find reasonable and can-do-it carpenters. Terrace completed: 1. Repaired the wall around 2. Waterproof the roof 3. Concreted the floor 4. Got the woods With your donation, we also build the following things. 1. For a long time, nannies put their coming shoes and clothing into the used paper milk-power boxes piles at the entrance, this time, we make lockers for each of them, and the also lockers putting the shoes of the visitors, the entrance is looking so neat and clean! 2. Long time, the powder, cereal and diaper boxes piles on the north room, now we have made a shelf with a certain, a good place to hide all the stuff in from eyes. 3. We had an open kitchen, entrance and the playing room entrance connected without any blocking before. Chinese Nannies are fond of Chinese cooking, the oil smoke running everywhere when the cooking on, without the blocking, they had to control cooking the hot spicy food even they want as afraid of the smoking hurt the kids. Now we did partition wall with a window and on the cabinet for rice bag, utensils and vegetables. 4. We lower down the window, made a new entrance to the back terrace, also along the window; we made a seating place for the nannies to sit on for dinning and saving the place. 5. We also made the separate turning-in corner, for keeping the new arrival babies from the other kids at their beginning days.
We thanks for every one of you, and treasures of every penny, all the nannies are working hard to give more hands out and doing whatever we can do without haring extra hands and spend extra money. With your help, we have complete more than we expected, and the money left from all the above projects can pay for the carpenter to build the front terrace. As the Johnson Control team considered their support with the storage, it will be on there someday!
Thanks again for all your love, care, and the donation! And enjoying the photos of our little home in Siping and in your hearts!
Hannah and all the Staff at the Center
Work is Continuing! August 14, 2009Work is continuing at the Center with most of the inside work complete. The work will now move to the play are and the additional storage area. A group of seven volunteers from Johnson Controls office in Changchun came to the Center last weekend to help with some of the work and take the kids out for a day in the park. They will have more groups coming in over the next few weeks to help with the work and the kids. The groups consist of Americans working in China and the Chinese staff at Johnson Controls. We appreciate their efforts to help and thank them for being so thoughtful. The photos below are of their visit on August 8. We still need additional donation to meet our goal of $6000. Even though we have ended the ChipIn you can send your donations to the address below or you can donate through PayPal. IAAP We thank all of you that have helped make it possible for the ladies at the Center to care for these children and see that they get the assistance they need.
The work has begun!! July 22, 2009The work began this week on the repairs and expansion. You can see the progress being made in the slide show below. All the children have been moved out this week while the workers take care of the dirty and noisy jobs. We hope the kids will be able to return this weekend. We gave the go ahead for the work to begin even though we have not raised all the funds. We have faith that the funds will be raised but we need your help. If you can help, please click on the ChipIn at the right or make a donation by check to address below. If you have not been keeping up with the project you can read about it below. Thank you all for your help and we will keep updates posted here as the progresses.
Siping Center Expansion Update - July 14, 2009 The photos below show the workers who will manage the construction project at the Center. They were there on July 13 to take their final measurements and review the plans with Hannah. They are ready to start construction on July 19. The babies and the nannies will need to move out for two days and two nights while demolition is done to take out one of the windows to the terrace and put in a new door way to the outside play area and the the walls must be sanded and prepared for the new wallpaper and wood.
We have a little less than half the money for the whole project and we have until July 23 to raise the remainder. If you can help please click on the ChipIn at the right to donate through paypal or credit card. You can also send a check to: IAAP Check back here for updates as the project moves along. We are also adding some new photos of the nannies and the kids at the Center. You can see them by clicking here! Thank you all for your help! We know many people are going through difficult economic times right now but any small donation you can make, a long with the help of others, will make this renovation and expansion a reality for these children. We will be placing a plaque in the Center with the names of all those that contributed. Siping Center Expansion and Repair The Siping Center is in need of repairs and expansion. Orphanages are contacting us everyday asking if we can help by taking additional children who need more medical care and attention than the orphanage can provide. Sadly we must turn them down because we just don't have the room. We have walls and ceilings that must be repaired before winter comes (it gets down to 20 below zero) and we need more space to be able to care for additional children. Just click on the CHIPIN at the right to help! To do this we need the following:
